When the shower keeps leaking, this is a sign that something has worn out or is broken. To maintain the shower in the bathroom suite, the best thing to do is replace the cartridge assembly inside the handle. This is a fast and simple repair. Start by shutting off the main water valve. Remove the cap from the handle and loosen the screw. This may require an Allen wrench. Once this is done, remove the handle and pull out the clip using pliers. Some taps will not have the retaining clip and will simply have a washer. Once the washer or clip is removed, the cartridge can be removed.
Install a new cartridge, making sure the grooves line up with the head of the tap. Replace the retaining clip or the washers to secure the cartridge. Tighten all screws in the handle and replace the protective cap. Turn on the water and then turn on the shower to check for any leaks. If there are none, you have just successfully changed a cartridge and stopped the free flow of water.
